NORTHERN BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG CLUB

This code of ethics is issued as advice to every member of the Northern Bernese Mountain Dog Club.
Members, whether the owner, keeper, or in temporary charge of a dog, for any person,
accept as their responsibility, that they will:-

for appropriate veterinary attention if, and when, required.
2) Not allow any dog in their care to roam at large, or to cause a nuisance to
neighbours or those carrying out their official duties.
3) When their dogs are away from home, ensure that the dogs shall wear properly
tagged collars, and shall be kept fully leashed or under effective control.
4) Acknowledge responsibility to clean up after their dogs in public places or
anywhere where the dogs are being exhibited.
5) Agree, without reservation, that any Veterinary Surgeon operating on their dogs
to correct hereditary defect(s) may report such an operation(s) to the Kennel
Club.

BVA/KC scheme, or the equivalent scheme prior to 1998.
8) Stud dog may serve only bitches qualified under rule 7)
9) Only sell puppies and older dogs to homes where there is a reasonable
expectation of a happy and healthy life, and will assist with the re-homing of a
dog if the initial circumstances change.

requirements, and supply guidance concerning responsible dog ownership.
Owners of stud dogs have a moral obligation to share the responsibility for
